Are You a Reflector? – A Devotion from Reflections of God’s Grace: Inspiring Devotions for Godly Living

Are You a Reflector?

While I was driving home from Mauk tonight on those dark country roads, I began to notice my headlights shining on reflectors on posts in the ditches on either side and on the reflectors in the center. I thought back to other times when I have driven on very dark roads where the center line and the side lines were so dim that I had to follow the reflectors in the center of the road in order to stay in my lane and stay the course.

God calls us to be light in this dark world. We are to reflect His light, so that others may see the way.

Unless a bright light shines upon the reflector, the reflector does no good in the darkness. So it is with us; it’s not our light but the light of the Son that reflects off us. As we grow closer to Him, and as we seek His will for our lives, the amount of light we reflect also grows. There may be people in your life who are walking through deep darkness—maybe they don’t know Christ at all, or maybe they are just traveling down a dark road and their faith has become weak and their own light is dim. They are people who are watching the reflectors in the center of the road—You and me—so that they may be able to stay the course. Sometimes we may be the reflector that keeps them from running off the road and into the ditch. Lord, help me today to stay close to You, that I may reflect Your light and Your brilliance and be a mighty reflector in the darkness.

And they that be wise shall shine as the
brightness of the firmament, and they that turn
many to righteousness as the stars forever and
ever. (Daniel 12:3)

For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I
have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that
thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of
the earth. (Acts 13:47)

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons
of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked
and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as
lights in the world. (Philippians 2:15)

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.(1 Corinthians 11:1)
