In the Round-About — August 2025 Newsletter

As we are getting back into the rhythm of school and all the things that go with it – getting kids to school on time or getting to work on time (make sure you leave early to avoid the ‘school bus delays’), long days from extracurricular activities, making dinner, and let’s not mention the dreaded homework – it’s important to still take time to bask in God’s Presence to fill our cup and to wait on Him for answers to prayers and direction for our life.

So many times, in our rush to get things done, we start questioning the Lord about where our road is leading or what’s taking so long. Sometimes I feel like I’m on a long road trip and I’m asking my Daddy “Are we there yet?”  I’m sure God gets just as exasperated with me as Joe Hanna used to do on family trips. Daddy knew the way to where we were going, and I only needed to trust him that we would get there exactly when we were supposed to. I didn’t have to worry about the directions or the time it took for the trip.  It’s the same with my Heavenly Father!! I need to trust Him on my journey of faith — even when I find myself in a traffic jam and I’m not moving. Maybe God has someone on an “earth mover” ahead of me clearing the path and I just need to be a little patient. Maybe God has me in a delay because there is danger ahead that needs to be gone before I come speeding through.  Maybe God has someone whose path needs to intersect with mine, and the enemy has delayed their arrival.  Or maybe, just maybe, God is waiting on me to surrender some little something that I keep holding onto or holding back from Him.   I don’t know where you are today, but maybe, like me, you need to take a rest in the backseat and just let Daddy drive for a while!!!

This is an excerpt from “Detours” by Tony Evans that fits in perfectly with this thought –

“Joseph didn’t give in. He just kept showing up day in and day out.  Cinderella sang as she cleaned because once she had met the prince, she knew there was something bigger for her. It was just a matter of timing, which is how it always is with God. It’s a matter of timing. It’s a matter of Him setting up the intersections of life so that when you get there, the people you are connecting with are ready for you. And even more importantly you are ready to handle what has been given to you as well. We are all interconnected through God in His divine plan. He is hooking things up. As you wait on your destiny, realize that one of the reasons you are waiting is because God is up to something bigger than just you.”

I chose this picture to go along with this because maybe you feel like you are stuck in the circle Ο of the round-about and you don’t know which road to take. Stay in the circle Ο until God tells you which path to take next. You may be in the  waiting on someone to get to you so you can meet their need. Maybe you’re on a uphill path now and don’t see the Ο  yet, and are wondering how you are going to get where you need to be. You don’t know God is leading you to a circle up ahead Ο and He’s got the right person waiting for you who is going to meet your need, speak life into you, or help you see the next step. Be like Joseph — just keep showing up day after day. Be like Cinderella sing praises while you’re stuck in the everyday mess. God is working a plan that is bigger than just you!!! At the right time, He will bring you to the circle and He will have someone there waiting for you!!!  Then you will realize that God had everything perfectly mapped out and you just had to relax and praise!! God is so good and ever so faithful!!!
