Thirty Days of Thanks Day 5

Today I am thankful for a great heritage. God allowed me to know 6 of my 8 great-grandparents and I loved them all…the only 2 I didn’t know committed suicide or they may have lived long enough for me to know them as well. First is MawMaw, who would have been 117 today, whom I can picture now waving her walking stick in the air as she walked the aisles of church testifying to God’s grace and mercy. MawMaw had a huge impact on my life — from teaching me the proper way to mop a floor to living a Christian life amidst hardship and trials!! Nanny, who was blind for as long as I can remember, but always told me how beautiful I was every time I saw her. Grandaddy, who gave Bob’s soft peppermints sticks for a kiss on his snuff-drenched lips. Granny Hanna, Grandma Harris, and Grandpa Harris, all lived out of state, but were special to me in many ways. The children of Israel also had a great heritage and would pass that heritage down from generation to generation. All of these people I mentioned did exactly that. We all have stories to tell from each of them and their influence is seen in each of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren!!

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children… Proverbs 13:22 KJV
