Deeper Still (Part 1) – Excerpt from Reflections of God’s Grace

…On a hot day at the beach, it is refreshing just to get in ankle deep water. The coolness washes over you from the bottom up. Even so you may not be completely relieved, so you wade out a little further—this time to knee-deep water. The small waves splash around you, giving an even cooler sensation. If you go out a little further to where you are waist deep, you can “ride the wave” a little bit and experience an even greater level of relaxation and enjoyment.

But if you will go on out where the water is deeper, to where your feet fail to touch the bottom, to where you are able to swim, there is freedom at that depth that isn’t experienced anywhere before.

… God longs to lead us into the deeper waters of His love, into the deeper revelations of His word, the deeper waters of our faith, where we can swim freely, where His peace floods our soul, where we are able to trust Him completely (without borders, as this song declares). Just as the depths of the ocean increase exponentially, so does our faith in God as we encounter trials and tests and are made “overcomers by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony” (Revelation 12:11).

Allow Him today to lead you to the deep waters, where your faith will grow, where your love for Him will be heightened, and where your trust will be without end.

O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. (Psalm 84:12)

Grace and peace be multiplied through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:2)
